Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials - New Cohort Intake 2022
INFORMATION SESSION 8th DECEMBER 2021 - ONLINE
An information session will include details of the upcoming intake of new students and also a supporting speaker. The opportunity will be available to families of emergency service worker and Police Scotland Young Volunteer programme (PSNYV). 30 spaces will be available for young people aged between 15 - 22 years old and applications will be accepted after 8th December to apply for the programme.
The chosen students will be supported through CCNA Introduction to Networks which is one in a set of three courses (which are also available) . As well as gaining industry standards qualifications which add value to any CV, students will have exposure to positive figures in industry and gain insight into roles within the ICT. CV builder sessions will also be delivered within the programme to support entry into industry.
Mentoring will be available from the supporting police officers namely Ashley Beck and Michael McCahill to tutor students in the technical concepts contained within the training. The training is delivered online however, books kindly donated by Police Scotland will be provided to student to keep for reference throughout their careers. The programme will commence in January and students will be able to complete the course at their own pace and in their own time. Online sessions will be arranged periodically which includes speakers, fun competitions and tutorials.
This programme has been created and delivered by Ashley Beck in her own time, however the ability to provide this opportunity to young people is made possible through the support of partners such as DC Michael McCahill, DC Andrew Ritchie, Cisco, Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT) among other industry organisations. All support is delivered purely on a voluntary basis, in the personal time of the people involved and is being offered as a thank you for all the hard work and dedication to protect the people of Scotland and beyond during a global pandemic.
